🏠 Chosen Children’s Center — Restoring Childhood, One Life at a Time
Chosen Children’s Center, a vital extension of the Chosen Rehab, was born out of the women’s center with a mission rooted in compassion. It was established to care for the children of female addicts, as well as those found wandering the ghettos—abandoned or neglected due to addiction in their families.
Located in Accra-Darkuman, just behind Water Works, the center stands as a beacon of hope. Our goal is simple yet profound: to give these children a joyful home and a future filled with possibility.
To all our sponsors who have donated and stood by us—we are deeply grateful. And to those who feel moved to support this mission, your generosity will help us save a future, one child at a time.
The History of Thy Bounty: A Legacy of Mercy and Faith
The story of our orphanage is a multi-generational mission of compassion that began over 60 years ago.
A Generational Calling
The lineage of our work traces back to Felicia Torkonu, who, nearly seven decades ago, began traveling to remote villages to bring children into her care. This mantle was later passed to her daughter, Vivian, who expanded the vision by opening a school at Achimota that eventually became the foundation for Chosen Children’s Center.
A Hard-Earned Lesson in Mercy
The current leadership of the orphanage was forged through personal sacrifice and a profound spiritual lesson. While Vivian took care of orphans, she was intentionally "tough" on her own son to build his character; while the orphans were provided with high-quality items like Nike t-shirts and sneakers sent from Sweden, her son worked the streets.
To afford transportation to Kaneshi Technical School, he sold oranges and newspapers. When he questioned why the orphans received better treatment, his mother explained: "I am doing this so that God will have mercy on you... I'm intentionally doing this so that God will not see me only catering for you". Following her passing, this mission became his life's work, leading to the official registration of the organization in 2008.
Miraculous Growth and Outreach
The physical home of Chosen Children’s Center is a testament to faith. We demolished a 70-year-old structure to make way for a new center that was built "miraculously" in stages. Our mission evolved as we began reaching into the ghettos, where we encountered infants born to drug-addicted mothers. Seeing babies become addicted through breast milk provided the "pressure" to focus on specialized orphanage care.
Our policy prioritizes the safety of these children by separating them from their mothers during the difficult withdrawal period, with the ultimate goal of reunification once the mothers are stable. Today, children are brought to us through Social Welfare, police extracts, and media referrals.
Our Future: Serving the Community
Today, Chosen Children’s Center cares for 75 resident children, but our vision is expanding to serve the wider community. We are transforming our center into a haven for the children of street hawkers. From 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM daily, community children can come to the center for help with homework and to learn activities such as keyboard and drums.
We are also reviving traditional skills from Vivian’s era, such as teaching children to sew blankets from fabric scraps, ensuring that the legacy of self-sufficiency and care continues for generations to come.
It is always a joy to see our children happy.
To all our Donors who have helped to assist in supporting there education we say a big thank you.
It is our priority to build a beautiful environment for them.

🌟 They Are Not to Blame—But They Are Ours to Protect
It is not their fault that they were abused, abandoned, or left orphaned. These children deserve safety, dignity, and love. It is our responsibility to stand for them—because they are the future leaders of our world.
Our love for these children will never fade. Help us turn our dream of a better life and brighter future into reality. Your support can be the difference between despair and destiny.
Your Visitation Will Cheer Me Up
Chosen For a Reason
It is not our fault that we are orphans, street children, or vulnerable youth. Society may be harsh, judging us for what we lack—parental guidance, stable homes—but that does not erase the divine purpose planted in each of us.
We may come from broken places, but our spirits are not broken. Our homes may be wretched, but our destiny is not. We are the future generation—resilient, radiant, and destined for greatness.

WHERE THERE IS LIFE, THERE IS HOPE
Chosen Children’s Center, a vital arm of Chosen Rehab, was born out of the women’s rehabilitation program with a singular mission: to care for the children left behind by addiction and abandonment.
This center provides refuge and support for the children of female addicts, as well as those found loitering in ghettos—often neglected, vulnerable, and without parental care. It stands as a safe haven where love, healing, and purpose are restored.
Located in Accra-Darkuman, just behind Water Works, Chosen Children’s Center continues to be a beacon of hope for the next generation.
Volunteers assist with rescuing babies from the ghettos.
The Department of Social Welfare with assistance of the police bring in abandoned street kids and abused children. Radio Stations also work in collaboration with the Center to aid in broadcasting lost children that are being sheltered at the Center.
All the children at the Center attend a private school in the area. Once the building project is completed, the Center will establish its own school for the orphans and the children in the area.
It’s always fulfilling to see these kids happy and with smiles all over their faces.
Support us to build a home for our children and have it named after you!
YOUR VISITATION WILL CHEER ME UP
“The relentless abuse of homeless children on the streets leaves him questioning whether life will ever be fair to the countless innocent souls still suffering out there.”
WE ARE THE CHOSEN ONES
It’s not our fault that we are orphans, street children, or vulnerable youth. Society may be harsh toward us at times, judging us for what we lack—especially the absence of parental guidance. But that does not diminish the divine purpose God has placed within each of us. Our family background may be broken, even wretched, but our destiny is not. We are the future generation, and we are destined for greatness.
